Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is accusing local authorities of ignoring requests to detain an illegal alien arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor and allowing him to be released into the community.
ICE announced that deportation agents arrested a 26-year-old Honduran national who is in the U.S. illegally, shortly after he was arrested locally and charged with first-degree sexual assault of a minor. press release on friday. New Britain Police arrested and charged him on September 14, 2023, with first-degree sexual assault of a minor under the age of 13 and unlawful sexual contact with a minor. ICE then requested his detention at the Hartford Correctional Center.

ICE agents were able to safely locate and arrest the Honduran national on April 4, and he will remain in federal custody pending his release, authorities announced.

When a suspected illegal alien is detained in a local or state detention facility, a detention request is filed by ICE.
