Former Astros prospect Ronnie Garcia has died at the age of 24 in a car accident in Samana, Dominican Republic.

According to MLB Insider Hector GomezGarcia was with his father, who died Saturday.

A third person has reportedly died in an accident between two motorcycles on the highway between Las Galeras and Samana. Around El Tiempo.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Astros prospect Ronnie Garcia. We extend our condolences to his family and friends.” The Astros shared on X on Saturday morning.

The relief pitcher played for the Astros in the minor leagues for seven years from 2017 to 2023, amassing a record of 9 wins and 15 losses.

Garcia posted a 3.42 ERA in 122 games, pitched 186.2 innings, allowed 170 hits, 71 earned runs, eight home runs, 100 walks, and struck out 200 batters he faced.
