On Friday around 2:30 p.m., four FBI agents showed up at Dalton Village Hall to serve two federal subpoenas.

The disciplinary report also included three charges against a police officer and Keith Freeman, who is said to be close to Mr Henyard. He was indicted on Monday on charges of bankruptcy fraud.

The second subpoena was specifically about Mr. Freeman, requesting records of all companies associated with him and other records that may have ties to the village, according to the report.

“For months and months and months, we’ve been begging for someone to come out here and actually look into what’s really going on here,” Dalton Trustee Tammy Brown said. ” he said.

The FBI issued its own statement saying, “Today we can confirm that the FBI was conducting court-authorized law enforcement operations in the area. “The house on the sand is crumbling,” said Bert Odersen, legislative counsel for the Dalton Village Board, adding, “I think the government is taking action.”

“We have not received a financial report since September, but the last time we received a financial report, we were informed that we owed $7 million,” Dalton Trustee Brittney Norwood said in a statement.

But Odersen said it may be a futile effort for federal officials to obtain these records.

“The clerk is the custodian of the records. That’s the good news. The bad news is she doesn’t have any records because they took them away from her,” he said.

“We were told those documents may have been shredded several weeks ago,” Brown said.
