Sahith Theegala’s “epic” reaction to Scottie Scheffler lapping PGA Tour field

Sahith Segala continues to impress young golfers.

Segala shot a 4-under 67 on Saturday to move into a tie for fourth place at the RBC Heritage, the PGA Tour’s newest signature event, with one round remaining.

He had three birdies on both the front nine and back nine, one bogey, and finished with a par breaker on the 18th.

But after his round, all the talk in the media room was about Masters champion Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler is leading the tournament again heading into Sunday. Scheffler shot a bogey-free 8-under 63 on Saturday and is now firmly in the lead at 16 under. Seagala is a 3 back.

After the former Pepperdine Wave finished his round, he was asked his thoughts on what Scheffler is accomplishing in the sport.

“This is pretty epic…I grew up watching the end of Tiger, and I got to see Lowry, DJ, Jordan. Like all these guys kind of dominated at one point, we… I thought, ‘I might be in the middle of that.’ It was something really, really special and I just thought it was cool,” Segala explained.

Scheffler is aiming for his fourth championship in his last five starts. Even more impressive is the fact that he has won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players Championship, and the Masters.

These three are the fields with the most stacked fields.

It’s likely that many players on tour are frustrated by his dominance, but Segala isn’t.

“It’s going to be an annoyance to some people, but I love it. I think I still have a ways to go to really prove that I’m a top 15 or top 10 player in the world. . We haven’t reached that point yet.

“I’m not annoyed. I’m just sitting there. It’s honestly pretty cool to see.”

Scheffler is playing in a different world now. We have never witnessed someone play so well, this has been consistent since Tiger Woods in his prime.

Theegala then summed it up perfectly for everyone.

“It gives us something to strive for.”
