Dak Prescott OK playing elsewhere with Cowboys contract unclear after 2024

Dak Prescott’s future is uncertain, but that’s not a problem for him, according to the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, who is entering the final season of his contract.

With it becoming increasingly likely that Prescott won’t sign a four-year, $160 million contract extension before the NFL season, it sounded like the QB was going to be fine no matter what.

“I wouldn’t say I’m afraid of being here or not. Frankly, I’m not afraid of either situation,” Prescott told reporters Friday at a charity event. “I love this game, I love playing, I love improving myself as a player and as a teammate around me. Now I’m with the Dallas Cowboys. That’s who I am. That’s where I want to be, that’s where I am, and that’s where I’m focused. Once this season is over, we’ll see where we are, and if that’s possible in the future. [great]. If not, go from there. ”

His comments came as the Cowboys appear ready to let him play next season without a new contract.

Prescott added that he is not aiming to be the “highest-paid” quarterback in football, but also suggested that no significant negotiations have taken place between his agent and the team.

“I’m focused on the present moment,” Prescott said. “I am confident that once negotiations begin and serious negotiations occur, we will be able to talk about making that happen.”

Prescott, 30, is coming off one of the best regular seasons of his career, leading the NFL with 36 passing touchdowns, just nine interceptions and a career-best passer rating of 105.9.

However, Prescott and Dallas’ season ended in disappointment once again as they lost in a home playoff game to the Green Bay Packers, continuing a streak of the QB not making it out of the divisional round.

He is 2-5 in the postseason in his career.
