Former President Trump will hold a campaign event in Wisconsin next week, making his first visit to a battleground state during a holiday pending his hush money trial in New York City.
President Trump is scheduled to head to Waukesha next Wednesday, where his campaign said he will deliver a speech “contrasting the peace, prosperity and security of his first term with Joe Biden’s failed presidency.”
President Trump is expected to highlight rising prices, which have been long-standing problems for the Biden administration, and the surge in migrants at the southern border, which is having a ripple effect on border states across the country.
“In short, the Badger State is suffering under the Biden administration, and President Trump will once again bring safety and affordability to Wisconsin!” the Trump campaign said in a release announcing the event.
Trump, appearing outside a Manhattan courtroom, has repeatedly complained that he is being kept away from campaigning as he seeks a second term in the White House in a rematch with President Biden in November.
Trump is charged with falsifying business records related to an alleged hush-money payment to hush up the affair during the 2016 campaign and must appear in court four days a week. Wednesday is typically a day off from court proceedings, and next week will be the first time President Trump uses that time for his campaign.
The former president’s rally was scheduled for last Saturday in North Carolina, but was canceled due to inclement weather.
Meanwhile, Mr. Biden has been active in recent weeks, traveling to states such as Pennsylvania, Florida and New York to promote his policies and attack President Trump over abortion and economic positions.
