It just… hurts.
The Cincinnati Bengals are facing a situation where not only one superstar, but two wide receivers want to leave town. tee higgins and defensive end trey hendrickson.
Back in March, reports first circulated that Higgins wanted to part ways with Cincy. However, he continued after the fact that he was looking forward to becoming a Bengali. 2024, but it seems like it was all a PR campaign. ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter released an update on social media Wednesday, saying Higgins’ plan is to leave Cincinnati. Over the past three years, Higgins has rushed for 2,776 yards and 18 touchdowns as the No. 2 wide receiver. Higgins was also the subject of trade rumors during the 2023 season. Higgins drew a lot of interest from teams, assuming the Bengals wouldn’t be able to pay all of their elite talent.
On Wednesday, the day before the NFL Draft, Hendrickson made his trade request public. On his current contract, the defenseman has only one year remaining on his debt of $15 million. Hendrickson was incredibly elite in 2023, finishing with 17.5 sacks and 43 tackles for loss. The 29-year-old is now looking to either give Cincy a bigger contract or move him to another team that will make it happen.
