Detroit fans kicked off this year’s NFL Draft on Thursday with the time-honoured tradition of booing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to the flesh and blood.
Goodell tried to hide behind Detroit legend Eminem’s aura when he brought white rapper Goat on stage. However, the smokescreen quickly dissipated as fans booed Goodell.

Goodell then had some of the Detroit Lions’ brightest stars past and present join him on stage. Jared Goff, Aidan Hutchinson, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Calvin Johnson, and the great Barry Sanders were all drafted before the No. 1 pick. But once the stars finished pumping up the crowd, fans booed Goodell again.
“Come on,” Goodell said to Goff and the others. He encouraged his ruthless fans to keep going. (Related: Top draft prospect says he’s ‘fortunate’ to go to NFL team. Completely wrong.)

God, I love you. As our country becomes increasingly divided, hating Roger Goodell is one of the last things we can all truly agree on. Whether it’s penalizing the New England Patriots for completely unwarranted penalties or undermining the game we all know and love by flagging a player’s wrong breath, Goodell has done absolutely nothing as a commissioner. It’s a disaster, and the fans know it. I don’t know what the future holds, but as long as Goodell remains a communist, I’m sure we’ll hear the boos.
