Carolina’s netminder didn’t have a great first two periods, but he had a great third period.
When the islanders applied pressure, Andersen held the fort.
2. Sebastian Aho
Carolina’s No. 1 center had another quietly strong game. He scored the final winning goal with what should have been a harmless wrist shot, beating Ilya Sorokin cleanly.
3. Brock Nelson
After a quiet first two games of the series, Nelson and the rest of the lineup finally made an impact.

Nelson scored his first postseason goal late in the second period and was a regular in the offensive zone on a night when the Islanders needed him.
important moment
Semyon Varlamov, who replaced Ilya Sorokin midway through the second period, calmed down the Islanders and helped change the course of the game, but could have an impact beyond Thursday.
