Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday heeded a final warning to comply with a subpoena seeking audio of a meeting between President Joe Biden and Special Counsel Robert Hur.

The Biden administration’s Justice Department responded to Comer and Jordan on Thursday, refusing to hand over the audio, saying there was no “legitimate Congressional need.”
“If the commission’s purpose was to receive information from the department to advance its investigation, that purpose has been more than met,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte. answered Thursday. “Our collaboration has been exceptional.”
“Despite our numerous requests, the committees have not clearly demonstrated Congress’s legitimate need to obtain audio recordings from the Xu investigation, much less law enforcement’s.” “This does not outweigh the department’s strong interest in protecting the confidentiality of files.”
“The actual record lacks any basis to justify a complaint, to say nothing of contempt, and the committee’s threats suggest that you will weaken rather than strengthen our government and the American people’s confidence in it.” “This deepens our concern that they are trying to create a false narrative about interference with the rule of law,” Uriarte continued.

When Breitbart News asked the Oversight Committee for comment on future actions regarding Garland and the possibility of contempt charges, a spokesperson said, “We will defer to the Department of Justice.”
Mr. Biden, 81, experienced confusion and “memory failure” at least seven times during the interview with Mr. Xu, according to records obtained by Breitbart News.
