Panthers’ David Tepper visits bar that called him out over NFL draft

There’s no question that a North Carolina facility’s message to Panthers owner David Tepper captured its intended audience.

Message: “Please choose your coach and GM this year.”

Matt Wohlfarth, owner of Dilworth Neighborhood Grill, posted about it on a sign outside his Charlotte store before this week’s NFL Draft, and Tepper noticed it and stopped by. .

Tepper spoke with the manager and asked who wrote the message on the sign, but Wohlfarth was not at the location when the Panthers’ owner was there.

The exchange was said to have been a bit more “joking” and Wolfers, who has been a season ticket holder since 1995, was informed of the visit by his manager. The Charlotte Observer reported.

surveillance video Posted by: WBTV In Charlotte, it showed the moment Tepper walked into the restaurant.

Wohlfarth told the Charlotte Observer that this was not the first time he had visited the store, the last time being in response to a different sign that read: Run away from Jerry Jones. ”

Tepper didn’t seem too happy about it and was “a little upset about it,” Wolfers explained.

The Panthers owner has cultivated a reputation as an owner who goes above and beyond in his role, including the fact that Carolina went 31-68 and had six head coaches under his management. Didn’t help it.

Bryce Young, last year’s No. 1 overall pick, struggled in his rookie season.

And because Carolina traded that spot to the Bears, they missed out on the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, which they would have gotten if they had a 2-15 record.

The owner of Dilworth Neighborhood Grille wished he had been at the restaurant when Tepper stopped by and had a candid conversation with the Panthers’ owner.

“I want him to be more of an owner than a coach or GM,” Wolfers told WBTV.

“After everything I’ve heard this year, I can believe he takes that to heart, but I just want to make sure,” Wohlfarth told the news station while standing behind a sign. Ta.

The Panthers used the first-round pick acquired in the trade to acquire wide receiver Xavier Leggett and selected running back Jonathon Brooks in the second round.
