Colts’ Chris Ballard rips critical reports around draft pick in expletive rant

The Indianapolis Colts selected wide receiver Adonai Mitchell from Texas in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night, giving quarterback Anthony Richardson another weapon.

Following the nomination, Colts general manager Chris Ballard spoke passionately with reporters, slamming anonymous sources who had criticized Mitchell in the days leading up to his remarks. This disdain may have pushed Mitchell to the second round.

Mitchell himself told reporters he was “disappointed.” He said he’s not celebrating entering the league and is ready to get to work, according to ESPN.

The wide receiver transferred from Georgia to Texas after the 2022 season.

He had 55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Longhorns. Although he didn’t receive as much hype as the top receivers in the draft, he is expected to be just as productive, if not more, once his professional career begins.
