The country singer also recalled contemplating suicide after multiple women accused him of sexual assault.

In May 2023, Allen’s former manager accused him of sexual abuse while they worked together. She later dropped the case against Allen. At the time, Allen apologized to his wife for “humiliating” her.

Shortly after the lawsuit came to light, two more women filed sexual abuse lawsuits, with Allen counterclaiming that the contact was consensual. He told Gifford the damage was still done.

“I was shocked. My life insurance covers suicide,” he said. “I don’t feel that way now, but in the midst of a society where you’re not innocent until proven guilty, the moment you feel like you have nothing, you know you’re guilty. I said it, so it is.” It must be true. ”

Although he still struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts, professional help has helped Allen focus elsewhere.

“After a few months, I started looking at the situation differently,” he said. “It was, ‘God, why is this happening to me?’ ‘God, what should I learn?’
