An armed robbery suspect was shot and killed in Kenner, Louisiana after shooting three police officers just before noon Sunday morning.
FOX8 live report The suspect, 31-year-old Matthew Lazars, had barricaded himself in a home in Jefferson Parish and was being sought in connection with Thursday’s armed robbery.
A man reportedly shot and wounded two people in front of a home in Jefferson Parish around 9:45 a.m., mistaking them for police.
A SWAT team then swarmed the house and sent out robots to try to find Lazars. The robot became stuck shortly after entering the home, and three SWAT members entered to untangle the cables and wires that caused the outage. As they did so, Lazers allegedly appeared with a rifle and opened fire, injuring all three officers.
CNN I got it. At least one SWAT officer reportedly fired shots, but it was unclear whether Lazars was injured in the return fire.
Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene a short time later, and a sniper shot and killed Lazers.
Two of the three injured police officers have been released from the hospital, and the third is in stable condition.
