A wild raccoon was found loose on a Queens street Sunday morning after a “masked” wild raccoon assaulted the owner of an errant gun, fur-raising footage reveals. Ta.
Authorities said the unidentified man fired multiple shots at the raccoon at close range in broad daylight around 10:30 a.m. as it walked on the sidewalk in front of a Springfield Gardens home.
The video shows the gunman, wearing a hoodie and hat, pulling the trigger and then jumping into the driver’s seat of the SUV.
In other information obtained by the newspaper, an NYPD patrol car was seen in front of a house on 223rd Street.
Police said the gunman fired multiple gunshots during the surreal ordeal, but it was unclear whether any wildlife nuisance was involved.

The shooter has not been charged while the investigation is ongoing.
Although raccoons are typically nocturnal animals, it is not uncommon to find them foraging for food during the day. According to city officials.
“Most raccoons are healthy and pose no risk of transmitting the disease to humans,” the city’s wildlife department said, noting that rabies vaccination efforts have been underway in Queens, Staten Island and Brooklyn since 2014.
