‘America’s Worst Mayor’ Dropped by Law Firm Representing Her

The law firm representing Democratic Mayor Tiffany Henyard of Dalton, Illinois, has requested that Henyard and the village of Dalton be dismissed from multiple lawsuits, citing unpaid fees.

in the letter share with daily mailThe Del Gardo Legal Group warned Henyard and the village board that the village of Dalton was on the verge of becoming “uninsurable,” saying they were not being paid and “no one should work for free.” ” he added.

Henyard is reportedly facing 22 lawsuits over his actions.

“The board recently voted to suspend payment of legal fees,” the letter from Del Gardo Law Group said. “Of course we don’t have to work for free and we refuse to do that.”

The law firm added in the letter that it will not defend any new or filed lawsuits and will withdraw from a small number of lawsuits on May 8, 2024.

Del Gardo Law Group added that the Village of Dalton reportedly continues to accumulate debt and is “rapidly approaching the point where it is no longer insurable.”

Henyard was recently named “America’s Worst Mayor” in connection with problematic spending habits and allegations of abuse of power, and is also accused of covering up a sexual assault of a former employee by a colleague.

A former employee claims Dalton Village Trustee Andrew Holmes sexually assaulted her during a trip to Las Vegas.

FBI officials issued two federal subpoenas to Dalton Village Hall on April 19th. One subpoena pertained to employment records, personnel files and disciplinary reports for approximately 25 city employees, three police officers and a village administrator.

A second summons has been served on Village Administrator Keith Freeman, who was charged with bankruptcy.
