Palin is in the final week of her 1,300-mile journey across Nigeria, heading south to Benin City. As soon as he arrived, a local woman spoke of her strong feelings about the statue there, which reminded him of the British army’s burning of the city in 1897. Thousands of bronze artefacts were also removed and are still on display in the British Museum. The city wants their return. Afterwards, have some jollof rice for lunch and have time to reflect.
