At the beginning of May, there are some interesting matchups happening around the world this weekend. Saturday is Star Wars Day, so watch MLS while celebrating your favorite characters. He has three games between Eastern Conference teams and should be able to start right away. Let’s see which matches are worth watching.
DC United vs Philadelphia Union
Saturday, May 4th, 7:30pm (MLS Season Pass)
This is a match that MLS wants to promote as a major rival. But this rivalry is like Ezra Bridger vs. Darth Maul. They may be rivals, but they seem to be friendlier than you might think. But for DC United, this isn’t much of a rivalry these days. The Black and Red have just one win against Philadelphia since the 2016 season, which is a terrible stretch. Both teams are currently tied on 13 points and will be hoping to get off to a good start in their first game of the season against rival I-95. Philadelphia is in seventh place with two games left, but a win for the Union would put them in position to re-enter the top half of the standings.
prediction: Philadelphia has DC’s numbers and will be a tough battle at Audi Field. Christian Benteke added another goal, but Union won 2-1.
Inter Miami vs. New York Red Bulls – Saturday, May 4th, 7:30pm (MLS Season Pass)
Miami is in first place with 21 points and the Red Bulls are in third place with 17 points against the top two teams in the East. Lionel Messi is in tears, but the Red Bulls will do their best as a resistance. The Red Bulls have been on a roll since the start of the season and will be hoping to repeat the Mandalorian’s performance in Season 1, but it will be difficult to break the current Empire as Miami has the best players. right.
prediction: Messi contributed two more goals and Suarez added one for Miami, who won 3-1.
Chicago Fire vs. New England Revolution – Saturday, May 4th, 8:30pm (MLS Season Pass)
Remember earlier this season when all the talk was about how the New England Revolution were rebuilding into a team that could challenge in the East? Well, they followed the same path as Finn, getting top billing very early on, but have now fallen to the back of the pack. They sit at the bottom of the East Division with 4 points and will face Chicago, which is in 12th place with 10 points. Chicago needs a Greef Karga type to emerge very quickly as they don’t really want the rest of the Resistance to survive without them or they will lose space at the bottom of the standings.
prediction: Chicago got the win at home, winning 2-0.
