An anti-Israel protester at Portland State University was captured on dramatic video being tackled to the ground Thursday after directly charging at police officers who were on the scene trying to break up the occupation of the campus’ main library.
The Portland Police Bureau announced that efforts are currently underway to demolish the Miller Library in downtown Portland, Oregon, following an illegal occupation of the building that began on Monday. Images released yesterday showed the inside of the building vandalized by protesters and pro-Palestinian graffiti written on the walls.
Footage captured by KPTV on Thursday began with a crowd cheering as protesters, some carrying makeshift shields made from trash cans, streamed out of the library.
“Stop, you’re going to be arrested, stop!” could be heard yelling, before one of the demonstrators could be seen charging at a police officer, knocking him to the ground. Other officers then assist in taking the person into custody.
