NYPD dismantles NYU tent encampment

The NYPD began clearing an anti-Israel tent encampment protest at New York University on Friday morning at the request of university officials. It comes just days after authorities arrested hundreds of protesters at other campuses in the city.

“We are on the scene and our officers are here to help, demonstrating unparalleled professionalism,” said NYPD Deputy Chief of Operations Kaz Daughtry. I wrote to X after 6am. There was also video footage of police officers arriving at the makeshift encampment.

According to a letter included in Daughtry’s post, NYU administrators asked police to “take enforcement action” against protesters who refuse to leave the grounds.

According to the school, tent camping has been going on since April 26th.

By about 7:30, police officers in riot helmets could be seen standing guard outside all entrances to NYU, and other officers were seen standing guard outside all entrances to NYU, while other officers were seen standing guard outside all entrances to New York University. They were working to sift through the rubble. Video shown by reporter Mary-Lynn Buckley.

Officers also began clearing encampments at New School and Parsons Friday morning. According to a video by independent journalist Katie Smith.
