‘Pure evil’: Nurse pleads guilty to murdering multiple patients and attempting to kill at least 19 more

Heather Presdy of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, worked at more than 11 rehabilitation clinics from 2018 to 2023. She was constantly fired or had to resign, citing her concerns about abusive behavior towards staff and patients.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office conducted the investigation after receiving a referral in late 2022 regarding a patient under Mr. Presdy’s care. It soon became clear that not only was she abusing her patients, but that Mr. Presdy was also murdering them.

To avoid the death penalty, Presdy, 41, pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder and 19 counts of attempted murder. But because a Butler County judge sentenced her murderous nurse to three life sentences for the three confirmed murders and consecutive sentences of 380 to 760 years for the other attempted murders. , she ends up dying in prison.

“The defendant used his position of trust to poison the patients who depended on him for their care,” Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry said in a statement.
Said in a statement Thursday. “While this plea and life sentence will not restore the lives lost, they will ensure that Heather Presdy never again has the opportunity to cause further harm. My heart goes out to all those who have suffered at the hands of this defendant. I wish you all the best.”

Blaze News previously reported that the victims were at the Concordia at Rebecca Residences. Bel Air Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Quality Life Services Chicora; Premier Armstrong Rehabilitation and Nursing Center; Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center – all the places Presdy worked as a registered nurse.

Investigators say the killer, a nurse, injected the victim with a lethal dose of insulin during a night shift when there were few staff members, “ensuring the victim would die before changing shifts to avoid being sent to the hospital.” “We often took measures to prevent this.” Her plan is a hospital where she may be discovered through medical testing. ”

If it appeared that the victims had a chance of survival, Presdee took additional steps to eliminate them.

criminal chargeswhen insulin failed to kill one victim, who Presdy later told investigators “had to die,” she administered a syringe filled with air into the victim’s catheter. caused a fatal air embolism.

Presdy apparently developed a taste for murder after dropping out of Allegheny County Community College’s nursing program to become a veterinarian. She later told investigators that her 14-year stint providing “critical animal care” included euthanizing animals.

The killer then earned a nursing degree and took a job that treated humans like lower animals.

Many of Presdy’s text messages to her mother, detailed in the complaint, hint at a murderous mentality, including one in which she writes:

  • “I’m going to kill you now” June 10, 2022.
  • June 26, 2022, referring to a patient: “If this happens, I’ll have to undergo pillow therapy.”
  • “She’s going to die!!!” July 5, 2022.
  • September 6, 2022: “I already gave him medicine and I don’t know how he’s awake.”
  • “I’m going to kill this woman over the phone” October 17, 2022.
  • “She could be dead. She hasn’t made a sound since 9 o’clock and I haven’t checked on her,” he added, before adding on December 7, 2022, “She may be dead. “And I could die right now,” he added.
  • “Anything to sting a bitch today” January 21, 2023.and
  • “But you can kill this resident.” May 12, 2023.

In court, Presdy’s defense attorney, Phil DiLucente, tried to humanize the murderous nurse.
report WTAE-TV.

“Let me tell you this: no one is at fault, and in the end you could see that she was remorseful,” DiLucente said. “Her eyes were full of tears, and some in the press could see that I handed her a handkerchief to wipe her tears in the jury box. After all, we are all human. Yes, this is a very, very tragic, tragic incident.”

The victim’s family was not fooled by the lawyer’s last efforts and the killer’s crocodile tears.

“She’s not sick. She’s insane. She’s evil incarnate,” one relative told the judge.

Another victim’s granddaughter told Pressed: “You are not a nurse. You are a stain on the nursing profession.”

“She is pure evil,” Melinda Brown, sister of victim Nicholas Symbol, told WTAE. “There is no justice in this. We will have justice when she meets her creator.”

“We will never forgive her for what she did. We are angry and hurt that she pretended to be a caring nurse,” said Elizabeth Simmons Ozella, daughter of victim Eileen Simmons.

Ozella continued, “She took someone off this earth that she had no right to take. And when she had no right to do so, she played God.”
