Fever move Caitlin Clark’s home debut due to Pacers’ schedule

The wait for Caitlin Clark’s WNBA preseason home debut with the Fever was shorter than expected.

The schedule conflict with the Fever’s schedule arose as the Knicks and Pacers wrapped up their respective first-round series on Thursday.

Indiana University was originally scheduled to play the Dream on May 10th at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, but the season opener will now be played on May 9th.

The change comes as the Pacers are scheduled to host the Knicks in Game 3 of the second round on May 10 at 7 p.m.

The Fever and Clark will begin the regular season on the road against the Sun on May 14th.

Clark’s regular season home debut will be two days later against Liberty.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft last month is expected to be a key piece of the improved Fever roster.

Last season, the Fever finished last in the Eastern Conference with a record of 13 wins and 27 losses.

This is an eight-win improvement from the 5-31 season in 2022, which was the third consecutive season with single-digit wins.

The Fever last made the playoffs in 2016, finishing 17-17 and losing to the Phoenix Mercury in the first round of the postseason.
