Held on the first Saturday of May each year, the Kentucky Derby will be held on May 4, 2024.

Many call these two minutes the most exciting two minutes in sports.

This is the first leg of the American Triple Crown, followed by the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes.

Kentucky Derby Hats Through the Years

“During Derby Week, Louisville becomes the capital of the world,” John Steinbeck wrote several years ago.

“The Kentucky Derby is one of the most beautiful, violent and satisfying things I’ve ever experienced, whether it’s the racing, the emotion, the chaos or the explosions.”

It’s also an event that millions of people watch from their homes or local watering holes each year, and many like to drink mint juleps to commemorate (or perhaps because of) the event.

Celebrity chef Paula Deen created her own thirst-quenching mint julep recipe and graciously agreed to share it with us.

“Put on your best hat, turn on the TV, sit down listening to this great mint julep, and you’ll think you’re there!”

“If you can’t go to the Kentucky Derby, bring the Derby home,” Dean told Fox News Digital.

“Put on your best hat, turn on the TV, sit down listening to this great Mint Julep, and you’ll think you’re there!” she added.
