The camp eventually ended after administrators gave in to protesters’ demands, including a full amnesty for demonstrators.
Kelly Shapiro, co-founder of the Students for Israel organization that organized the barbecue, called the university’s stance an “anti-Semitic double standard.”
“If they let us camp for three days, almost four days, why can’t we have a two-hour barbecue?” Rutgers junior Camila Vainberg asked.
The barbecue was instead held at nearby Buccleuch Park, with local restaurant Bridge Turkish and Mediterranean Grill providing the catering, but the event was met with a flurry of negative reviews online.
Despite being kicked off campus in the middle of the finals, about 100 to 150 people gathered for the barbecue.
“They may try to intimidate us, but we are not afraid to be pro-Israel on campus,” said Michael Batushansky, co-director of Student Affairs Israel.
“Our pride will not be shattered,” Vainberg added.
Rutgers did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
