Anti-Israel riots also spread to the Netherlands.
Early Tuesday morning, police arrested more than 120 people at an encampment set up at the University of Amsterdam. The mass arrests come as American and Israeli pro-life demonstrations have roiled American campuses and spread to Europe.
Police in the Dutch capital said in a statement on X that the protests had turned violent and their actions were “necessary to restore order.”
Police joined the demonstration using batons and shields, beating some demonstrators and pulling down tents, footage from the scene broadcast by state broadcaster NOS showed. Police also used mechanical excavators to demolish barricades.
