Colorado Newsline reports that the Democratic sponsor of Colorado’s “assault weapons” ban plans to kill his bill.
According to the report, state Sen. Julie Gonzalez (D) Said He plans to ask that the bill be removed from consideration at a committee hearing on Tuesday.
Colorado’s Legislature adjourns on Wednesday, but Gonzalez doesn’t believe that will give him the time he needs to consider the bill.
She said, “After thoughtful discussions with my colleagues in the Senate, we have decided that we need to have more conversations outside of the pressure cooker of the Capitol in the final weeks of Congress.”

Colorado Sun I got it. The “assault weapons” ban “passed the House in mid-April by a vote of 35-27.” No Republicans voted in favor of it.
Breitbart News noted that the “assault weapons” law banned not only AR-15s and AK-47s, but also 9mm pistols with threaded barrels and removable magazines.
Additionally, the bill’s text makes clear that semi-automatic handguns with removable magazines and threaded barrels of any caliber would be prohibited.
