House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) takes a victory lap on CBS. 60 minutes He wanted to brag about having wrested control of the House from Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) on Sunday.

In response to Mr. Johnson’s actions, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) vowed this week to push for a vote to remove Mr. Johnson from the speakership.

Jeffries and his leadership team issued a notable statement in late April praising Johnson for working to save him and partnering with a “bipartisan coalition” that included President Biden and “traditional Republicans.” issued a statement.[push] “We will fight back against MAGA extremism,” and pumped tens of billions of dollars in aid into Ukraine and Gaza.
His statement on Sunday makes clear without any uncertainty why Democrats support Mr. Johnson.
“Even though we are a minority, we have effectively governed as if we were a majority because we continue to provide the majority of votes needed to get things done,” he said. “These are just facts”:

CBS’ Norah O’Donnell agreed, saying, “Really, Republicans in the House have a nominal majority.”
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) called the Democratic victory a “triple betrayal” by Johnson. Specifically, Prime Minister Johnson has completed the task of passing each of 12 separate spending bills, and after casting the deciding vote to invalidate the warrant, two parts to force the reauthorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). The omnibus bill was passed with overwhelming support from the Democratic Party. He fulfilled requirements for spying on Americans and carried out a plan to release tens of billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine, even though he promised not to do so without addressing the border crisis.

Mr. Johnson also passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which was opposed by a majority of House Republicans.
Mr. Green agreed with Mr. Jeffries’ assessment and posted it on X. “House Republicans know this to be true, and when Johnson became speaker, Hakeem Jeffries began controlling the House.” There is no problem with the Unionist Party’s control.
She can move to resign at any time, giving the House two days to legislate before voting. Prime Minister Johnson plans to table the motion immediately.
