Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Police Chief Pamela Smith are scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday to discuss ongoing anti-Israel protests and encampments on the George Washington University (GWU) campus.

The mayor’s office confirmed to Fox News Digital on Tuesday that the mayor and police chief will testify at the hearing.

The approval comes after Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, said the university’s support for the university’s response to protests, which have become increasingly militant in recent days, comes after Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. This came after criticizing Washington DC leadership for not responding to the request.

Anti-Israel activists at GWU are calling on administrators not to call police to remove a camp that has been left on campus for 13 days.

Universities that once hosted anti-Israel protesters are changing their stance as the camps become more chaotic.

Protesters at GWU’s U-yard erected tents at the campsite and raised Palestinian flags. They also desecrated the original statue of the same name on campus. President George Washington, The statue features Palestinian iconography, including a sticker that reads “Liberate Palestine.”

More alarmingly, a recent video posted on social media showed protesters on campus demanding a “guillotine” from school administrators.

A person with a bullhorn could be heard shouting “guillotine, guillotine, guillotine, guillotine” as other demonstrators joined in.
