Undocumented immigrants now make up about 7 to 8 percent of New Jersey’s total population, or an estimated 892,000 of the state’s 9.3 million residents, according to the report. New Jersey “accounts for a disproportionate share of the U.S. illegal alien population,” Kanitra said.
“Approximately 1 in 22 illegal aliens and 1 in 37 U.S. citizens live in New Jersey,” the report states. “That means there are more than 60 percent of the population of this Union in New Jersey illegally.”

Kanitra details that the cost to New Jersey residents is significant, as each New Jersey household spends approximately $2,100 each year to fund illegal aliens residing in the state. . Similarly, every individual employed in New Jersey is charged approximately $1,600 per year as an illegal immigrant.
In particular, housing illegal aliens poses a heavy burden on blue state residents, including New Jersey residents.
Kanitra estimates that New Jersey residents pay about $27 million each year to house illegal aliens.
This does not take into account the high poverty rate among undocumented immigrants, who are more likely to use these services. The report also explains how undocumented immigrants are disproportionately distributed across counties and how these housing programs are located in the same counties where undocumented immigrants disproportionately tend to reside. As Breitbart News reported, the latest numbers suggest that illegal immigrants cost American taxpayers more than $150 million annually.
