If Stormy Daniels succeeded in convincing a jury yesterday that she had a one-night sexual encounter with Donald Trump, it was because she dug into the details.
At the same time, she admitted that Trump did nothing to force her to have sex in 2006 and that she asked him out the following year. The porn star has never described the alleged night out as anything other than consensual sex, although President Trump insists it never happened.
While that may not matter in the trial that ultimately validates the business record falsification claim, the following is important:
Ms. Daniels says there is no dispute that Michael Cohen sent the money to her in exchange for a $130,000 payment, but that she signed a nondisclosure agreement that required her to lie. .

“I couldn’t tell my story and he couldn’t tell his story. We had to pretend we didn’t know each other.” And of course that meant her This is a serious damage to reliability.
Even reporters at the Manhattan courthouse said it was difficult to know how this was affecting jurors. Stormy told jokes that people didn’t laugh at and spoke so fast that she had to be advised multiple times to slow down so court reporters could keep up.
Daniels describes what happened that fateful night:
They met briefly at a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. She was 27 years old, producing and directing adult films, and he was about 60 years old. Daniels said she barely knew him and she had never watched “Celebrity Apprentice.”
She met him again at the gift shop. It’s documented by photographs that have been seen billions of times around the world.
Bodyguard Keith Schiller asked if he would like to have dinner with President Trump. She says she responded, “Damn.” But Schiller got her cell phone number (it was in her contacts) and asked her again via text.
Daniels’ publicist urged her to go with what I thought was the funniest line of the day. She asked, “What’s the worst that can happen?”
Trump was wearing silk pajamas when he was taken to the penthouse. She told him to change, she said.

Daniels gave a detailed description of the room, including the beautiful, heavy furniture, to prove she was there.
He asked about her family and how she got interested in adult films. (Ms. Daniels previously testified that her mother was “very neglectful and she would disappear for days at a time.”)
Did you have a sexually transmitted disease test? She said she told Trump she had never tested positive.
There was a very brief conversation about Melania Trump, in which Trump said she was very beautiful and added, “We don’t sleep in the same room.”

Stormy testified that she became furious when he showed her a business magazine with Trump on the cover.
“Are you always this rude? Are you always this arrogant and arrogant? You don’t even know how to have a conversation.” She looked at the magazine and said, “Someone should bash you for this.” Ta.
He played the “Apprentice” card and asked her to come on his show. Stormy disagreed, saying that NBC would never hire a porn star and that “even you don’t have that much power.”
She said Trump told her, “When I look at you, I think of my daughter. She’s smart, blonde, and beautiful, and people always underestimate her.”
‘The View’ co-host dreams of sending Trump to jail
Well, that’s enough small talk (it was worth 2 hours).
Ms. Daniels crossed the bedroom to the bathroom, where she searched his cosmetic bag. She testified that when Daniels came out, “he was on the bed wearing boxers and a T-shirt.”
This was a dramatic development. She “felt the room spinning and the blood leaving her hands.” How could she have misread the situation? (That’s right, haven’t you ever known anyone who gets paid for sex?)
Stormy said she was not given any medication but that she “blacked out”.
“There was an imbalance of power. He was bigger and was blocking the way.” But “I was never threatened verbally or physically.”
After some blood was left on her hands, she somehow started saying, “I took off my clothes and my shoes. I took off my bra.” They were in “missionary position”. How does that fit with her previous anomalies?
Judge Juan Melchan upheld the first of several defense objections to her explanation of the position. Daniels also said the act was brief, he did not use a condom and she did not enjoy it.

More important, in my view, is that the porn star continued to contact the man she says blocked her from leaving the room. The following spring, she went to his vodka product launch and the possibility of appearing on “The Apprentice” was still in the air, so she decided she wanted to keep the relationship going.
That summer, she met him again in Los Angeles and went to his hotel bungalow with her boyfriend, who was stationed outside. “He was trying to continue his sexual advances on her,” he said, placing his hand on her leg. She lied and claimed she was on her period, he said.
Not surprisingly, Trump then called to tell her that she could not appear on the show because she had been rejected.
She has previously claimed that a key moment was when Mr. Daniels approached her in a parking lot in 2011 and threatened to reveal his encounter with Mr. Trump. Of course, this makes it impossible to fact-check the account.
In the final stages of her 2016 campaign, Ms. Daniels was approached about a $130,000 payment and was told that her husband would never find out. Although she kept saying she wasn’t interested in money, she was willing to take a six-figure deal.
When the Wall Street Journal exposed the hush-money scheme in 2018, there was no comment from Daniels, but she said her life had turned into “chaos” and she had been “ostracized.” .
On cross-examination, the defense quickly scored. President Trump called her “horseface.” Did she “hate” Trump? yes. Does she want him in jail? If he’s guilty, “absolutely.”
Daniels lost her defamation lawsuit against the former president last year and was ordered to pay $120,000 in legal fees and an additional $121,000. She swore she would never pay.
In response to her harsh response, Trump’s defense lawyers within minutes began painting her as an angry figure with a giant ax to grind against their client.
Bottom line: Stormy Daniels had both positive and unfavorable things to say about Donald Trump. Whether jurors see her as outspoken or insinuating that Trump is a predator, Trump ultimately reimbursed Michael Cohen for “legal costs” as part of a non-disclosure agreement. It may not be very important, except for the part about lying.
Trump’s defense attorneys argued for a mistrial after the lunch break, saying the only reason for such prejudicial questions was “to provoke the jury, other than pure embarrassment.”
Naturally, the judge rejected this request, but agreed that there were some things it would have been better not to say, but the defense also had some responsibility.
Earlier, prosecutors had subpoenaed Random House executives as a way to put some of President Trump’s book statements on the record. Some examples:
“If someone hurts you, go after them as hard and violently as possible.”
“All the women on ‘The Apprentice’ cheated on me.”

So it’s twisted in a business sense.
