Breitbart News’ Joel Pollack told Israeli government spokesperson Avi Heyman on Wednesday that U.S. President Joe Biden’s threat to halt arms shipments fits the dictionary definition of the word “betrayal.” Israel asked if he believed.
Pollack’s questions came amid reports that the Biden administration had put a large shipment of bombs on hold to thwart an Israeli attack on Hamas’ last battalion in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
The following exchange ensued.
POLLACK (via host): An Israeli analyst said the Biden administration is tying Israel’s hands and preventing it from defeating Hamas, explaining that the Biden administration is withholding military supplies from Israel. do you agree?
Hyman: Joel, thank you for your question. I’ve obviously seen these reports, reports that have come from anonymous sources on the American side. I would like to share with you a statement made this morning by the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces. If Americans actually say this or are doing it, you can refer them to it again. Personally, and for the Israeli government, I have nothing to add to these reports.
Pollack (via host): The dictionary defines the word “betrayal” as “a violation of allegiance to faith or confidence.” Do you think withholding weapons from allies during wartime is a form of betrayal?
Hyman: Joel, again, I understand that you’re asking the same question in a different way. My reaction remains the same.
Later that day, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed the report, and Mr. Biden expanded the threat to include artillery fire.
