A Florida mother is behind bars on multiple charges in the April 2023 death of her 4-year-old son, whom she adopted from Haiti, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Grady Judd announced Wednesday that Patricia Saintisaire, 36, has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and assault on a witness in the death of Brian Boyer.
“He died because she beat him to death,” Judd said. “How someone could abuse this beautiful child the way this child was abused and neglected is beyond me.”
Saint-Isaire also has a 16-year-old son he adopted from Haiti, who is currently in his care.

The Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday, May 2, that it received a call from Orlando Health Hospital staff stating that a 4-year-old boy died under “suspicious circumstances” after a medical examination revealed no abdominal bleeding. It can be cured with emergency surgery.
The boy’s body was taken to the 9th District Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, which was performed the next day. An autopsy determined that the child died from assault and blunt force trauma, and the cause of death was ruled a homicide.
“What we found in this investigation is just gut-wrenching,” Judd said.
An autopsy revealed old and new scars on the boy’s back, believed to have developed during the past year he spent with Saint-Isaire in the United States. There was also a deep laceration to his liver, which would have had an immediate effect and caused his health to “rapidly deteriorate,” the sheriff’s office said.
Although there were no broken bones or broken bones, an autopsy showed bruising and bleeding on his arms and legs. The coroner’s final determination was that his injuries were consistent with ongoing abuse.
“We don’t think we know everything this child went through,” Judd said.

Polk County homicide detectives learned the boy was initially taken to Heart of Florida Hospital in Davenport, where the family lived, but was taken to Orlando Health Hospital for his injuries.
PCSO said Saint-Isaire took her teenage son to the hospital at his request, and that her son had performed CPR at home beforehand.
When detectives first spoke to the 16-year-old boy, he said he had not abused or witnessed any abuse, but once he was taken into protective custody, his adoptive mother told him not to say anything. He said he was told not to say anything. I’m in trouble. ” He also said Saint-Isaire threatened to kill him with a gun, the sheriff’s office said.
The boy also told detectives that he and his older brother were physically disciplined with belts and homemade hitting devices while living in Haiti, the day before the 4-year-old’s death was reported. I talked about what happened on May 1st.
When the boy returned home from school that afternoon, he was “happy, uninjured and acting normally,” his brother told detectives. That was confirmed by an examination of bus and school cameras and by conversations with people who interacted with the boy.
“Despite his abusive treatment, they said he was a happy child,” Judd said.

Judd said Saint-Isaire’s husband told detectives that he was “obviously working” but was not taking care of the children’s discipline. According to the sheriff’s office, Saint-Isaire “repeatedly denied” using physical discipline as punishment for either child.
Detectives searched her cell phone and found two videos from her home’s surveillance camera that allegedly showed Saint-Isaire hitting her 4-year-old child with an unknown object while she was face down on the floor. Judd said. Another video showed her allegedly throwing her boy into a pool with his hands tied behind his back.
“Our number one goal in this organization is to protect children,” Judd said, “and that’s why we go after child predators, and that’s why we go after child pornographers.” And that’s why we go after child abusers, and certainly why we go after child murderers.”
