As they entered the space, workers were greeted by a fully decorated living area with a mini-desk, hardwood flooring, food pantry, and plants.

“They were like, ‘Oh my God, someone lives inside that sign,'” said Midland Police Public Information Officer Brenon Warren. He told the Midland Daily News.

Officers eventually arrived and took the 34-year-old woman away, telling her she needed to find another place to live.

It’s unclear how the woman got to the rooftop residence in the first place, or how she evaded arrest during the year she lived there.

Police officers offered the unconventional squatter some assistance, including housing assistance, but she refused any assistance.
