This year’s SummerSlam will be one of the most interesting WWE Premium Live Events (PLE) of the summer, taking place at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
The Cleveland area is home to national champion Logan Paul, his younger brother Jake, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, and younger brother Travis.
Johnny Gargano, one half of the tag team known as DIY, is also a Cleveland native who has traveled to Cleveland Browns Stadium in the past to welcome his favorite NFL team to the stadium. When the possibility of Pauls and Kelces facing off in a tag team match was mentioned, Gargano seemed interested.

“Yeah, that would be a big deal. You never know,” Gargano told Fox News Digital with a laugh. “Look, I say it’s in Cleveland Browns Stadium. There are members on the Cleveland Browns roster who are wrestling fans. I’d especially mention David Njoku. Myles Garrett has also been on Shawn Michaels several times. I know he posed, and I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the Cleveland Browns being in attendance that night.
“But brothers Paul and Kelsey, it’s definitely a box office hit. It’s going to be a big headline. Who knows?”
WWE’s last premium live event in Cleveland was Fastlane in 2019, and it was an arena show. This time, a premium live event will be held at a soccer stadium. It is also the first PLE in the United States that WWE will hold mostly outside of the country.

It would mean a lot to Gargano to do that in Cleveland.
“I heard it was a possibility a few months ago. And when I heard it was a possibility, I said, ‘Please, please,'” he told Fox News Digital. “You know how cool that is? This is something I’ve been waiting for my whole life. I don’t want to say my whole life, but essentially my whole life, most of my life. It’s a big four event in WWE. The fact that it would be held at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio was something I never imagined.
Gargano said that as a child, he dreamed of maybe wrestling in a stadium. But he never thought it would happen, since Cleveland wasn’t considered a major market and doing outdoor shows didn’t really exist many years ago.

“The fact that it’s actually happening, it’s not just a fantasy, it’s actually real…The fact that SummerSlam is coming to Cleveland, Ohio, and I’m an active member of the WWE roster and have a chance to wrestle there. The fact that the stadium was on that show feels like destiny, it really is.
WWE had just finished their Backlash match in Lyon, France, and the audience watching at home roared at commentators Michael Cole and Corey Graves.
Gargano said he “trusts” that fans will do their best to follow “in the footsteps of all international PLEs.”
It’s unclear where Gargano will fit into the championship picture by the time August 3 approaches. He and his tag team partner Tommaso Ciampa were recently drafted to SmackDown, but have yet to capitalize on their opportunity to win tag team gold.

Gargano said he still believes he can achieve his goal of winning gold and becoming WWE Champion in 2024.
“I just want to be at SummerSlam in any capacity,” he said. “But if it ended that way, and I was able to have a shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles at SummerSlam in my hometown, and the fact that it’s at Cleveland Browns Stadium. “I had my senior prom at Cleveland Browns Stadium.” Thanks to my wonderful wife, I had my 30th birthday party at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
“I trained for TakeOver New York for the NXT Championship at Cleveland Browns Stadium. There’s a lot of history in that building. I’m proud to be a professional wrestler in Cleveland. Yes, because I’m so proud to be able to express that wherever I go.
“If I had the opportunity to win the WWE Tag Team Titles in that stadium for my family and friends, that would be something that I would remember for a very long time, really until the day I die. That would be the best. It’s the culmination of many years of hard work, so no one knows what will happen. ”
