Country star Jelly Roll was overcome with emotion after completing his first 5k run on Tuesday.
In the video, the 39-year-old singer was seen wiping away tears at the finish line after participating in podcast hosts Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura’s 2 Bears 5K.In an interview with entertainment tonightJelly Roll said he has come a long way since first accepting Kreischer and Segura’s 5K By May challenge.
“When I started trying to do this in January, I couldn’t walk a mile,” he said. “So the fact that he was able to get the three points, whatever it was today, felt really, really good.”

“I left feeling really motivated,” added Jelly Roll.
He also shared an update on his weight loss journey. The two-time Grammy nominee told the outlet that he has lost “about 50 to 70 pounds” since he started training for the race.
The “Son of a Sinner” hitmaker said he was “a little tired” but “feeling great” after completing the 5K.

Reflecting on his interactions with fans at the 2 Bears 5K, Jelly Roll told ET that it was “really cool” to hear that he inspired others by participating in the run.
“I think the best thing is that so many people stopped and said they were motivated by us and other great people,” he said. “That was really cool to see.”
“It’s such an eclectic group of people,” he said of the race’s participants. “There was a guy running around wearing a bear costume, and people drinking beer.”
Some people even broke their personal records! he added.

Last month, Jelly Roll’s wife Bunny Zoe revealed that she was taking a break from social media after Jelly Roll made negative comments about her weight.
“My husband got off the internet because he was tired of being bullied about his weight,” she said on the Dumb Blonde podcast. “He’s such a sweet angel baby that it makes him want to cry.”

“My husband won’t show it to you guys, but I’m going to have a very weak moment here,” Bunny Zoe told listeners. “It hurts him.”

Jelly Roll (real name Jason Bradley Deford) has opened up about his struggle to lose weight over the years. In 2018, the country star revealed on Instagram that she weighed over 500 pounds before embarking on a weight loss journey in 2015 and losing 200 pounds.

In April, Jelly Roll declared he was going to drop an additional 100 pounds after losing weight while preparing for a 5K as part of Netflix’s comedy festival “Netflix Is a Joke.”

In an interview with ET, Jelly Roll shared his thoughts on how he’s been feeling during his time away from the internet.
“It’s an incredible feeling. I’m surrounded by friends and family,” he said. “Me and Bart really, really shared tears as we ran across the finish line.”

“Next year is a half marathon!” he declared. “We’re now saying absolutely yes, we’re going to do this.”
