Noem has faced intense criticism after her book revealed that she killed her 14-month-old dog, Cricket, by shooting her in the head.
“Cricket was an approximately 14-month-old wirehaired pointer,” Noem wrote, describing the dog as having an “aggressive personality.” She joined the pheasant hunt in hopes that teaching the cricket to hunt would calm the dog down, she said. Noem said the dog was “going crazy with excitement, chasing birds and having the time of its life.” Noem then stopped to meet her neighbor, and she claimed the crickets had ravaged her neighbor’s chickens.[ing] They kill one chicken at a time by chewing it up in one bite, then dropping it to attack another chicken. Noam claimed the dog “bitten me with the whip” when he tried to stop the attack, and that the dog acted like a “trained assassin” and took his own life. Stated.
