Israel’s Security Cabinet announced on Friday that it would expand Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) operations in Rafah, albeit on a limited basis, and continue talks with Egyptian mediators in the hope of reaching a hostage release agreement with Hamas. It was resolved.
The vote was interpreted as a rebuke to the Biden administration after the president acknowledged this week that the United States was withholding bombs and artillery from Israel in protest of Rafah’s decision to attack Hamas.
The Security Cabinet is one level above the War Cabinet and deals with more pressing military decisions.

According to reports in Hebrew media, the Security Cabinet passed a resolution last night approving the expansion of IDF operations in Rafah.
The expansion is seen as being done on the basis that Israel does not want to cross the line of what the United States considers a “large-scale operation.”
US President Joe Biden earlier this week blocked the shipment of certain offensive weapons to Israel if it entered the populated area of Rafah, citing concerns that more than 1 million civilians have been displaced. I warned him to stop.

Rafah is Hamas’ last stronghold in Gaza, and Israel needs to destroy the remaining four Hamas battalions in Rafah to prevent Hamas from returning to power in the Gaza Strip and attacking Israeli communities again. I think there is.
The United States has expressed concern about the impact of the expansion of Operation Rafah on the humanitarian situation. On Friday, the IDF announced it had allowed 200,000 liters of fuel to flow into Gaza for distribution by international aid groups.
