Shaq gave a cryptic response to an excerpt from his ex-wife Shawnee Henderson’s memoir, questioning whether she really “loved” him.
But on Friday, Mr. Henderson dismissed the remarks. to peoplesaid it was “taken out of context.”
In her book, UNDEFEATED: Change the Rules and Win on Your Terms, released on May 7, she writes, “Looking back, I never really fell in love with this man.” “It was,” he wrote.
Their relationship began in the late 1990s, and they married in 2002 and have four children together: Sharif, Amira, Shakeel, and Meara.
“My book is my truth. Yesterday, when I was talking to a friend, developing opinions and comments from content without context would show the lack of intelligence and intellect of many people.” ” she said. “There was no context to that one word I said. Sadly, I think people are taking my words out of context.”
“I don’t speak the language,” she added. “I’m a character girl. After my marriage to Shakeel ended, my character started to speak for itself.”
The day after its release, Shaq responded to the quote with the following message on Instagram: …I wouldn’t have liked it either. I wish you all the best. Everyone loves Shaq. ”
The post’s caption also read, “Okay, trust me.”
The couple also have children from previous relationships.
Henderson has a son, Miles, and Shaq has a daughter, Tahira, with ex-girlfriend Arnetta Yardover.
Henderson and Shaq separated in 2009 after Shaq admitted to infidelity in his 2011 memoir, Shaq Uncut: My Story.
Ahead of her memoir’s publication, Ms. Henderson told People magazine that she was “nervous” about writing publicly about Shaq. Because anything to do with Shaq is “always sketchy because of who he is.” But in the end, she thought it was important to “share this journey” and give some clarity to her own “misconceptions.”
Henderson remarried her current husband and “love of her life” Keion Henderson in 2022.
“When you love someone, you love someone, but loving someone is a different feeling, and to be honest, I didn’t realize that until I found the love of my life and am in this situation. “I got married,” she said. I’m like, “Oh my god.” It’s a different feeling. ”
