WILDWOOD, NJ — Former President Trump held a raucous rally in New Jersey and confidently predicted Saturday that he would easily win the Garden State on Election Day in November.
“We’re going to win New Jersey,” the Republican front-runner told the crowd, leading to wild cheers. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (RN.J.), who briefly shared the stage with Trump, called the event New Jersey’s largest political gathering. A spokesperson for the city of Wildwood told The Associated Press that they estimate between 80,000 and 100,000 people attended the rally.
Trump spent much of the rally criticizing his Democratic rival, President Biden, as a “stupid” and “the worst president in history.”

“As you can see today, we are expanding the electoral map to win New Jersey,” Trump said. “I think we can win them all. Across America, in so-called blue states, millions of people join our movement on the basis of love, intelligence, and something called common sense. doing.”
Trump took aim at Biden’s economic and border policies.
“Biden’s price hikes continue to drain more than $1,000 a month from the typical New Jersey household,” Trump said, adding that inflation has led to lower prices on everything from hot dogs to chicken to gasoline to bacon. He pointed out that prices are rising. .
President Trump says his 18-year-old son Barron likes politics, advises him, “He’s a smart kid.”
“From day one, we will abandon Bidennomics and bring back Magnomics,” he said. “And we’re going to bring manufacturing, tourism and other industries back to New Jersey like we’ve never seen before.”
Trump repeatedly incited rowdy crowds.
“Look at the Afghanistan disaster, the borders, the economy, the real economy, not the fake economy, look at it all. [Democrats] “What does a touch turn into?” Trump asked the crowd, and the crowd chanted, “S–!”

Trump also attacked Biden’s handling of Israel’s war in Gaza and his alleged acquiescence to anti-Israel demonstrators on college campuses.
“He’s turning over college campuses to anarchists, jihadist maniacs, anti-American extremists who want to tear down the American flag,” Trump said before calling out Biden and the Democratic National Committee. “Everywhere they go they go. “I want to destroy it,” he said. , “to return the contributions of all the anti-Semites, American haters, and funders of campus chaos.”
The rally came as the Republican front-runner faces dozens of felonies in four separate criminal cases, less than six months until the election. There is a real possibility that President Trump will be a convicted felon by Election Day.

Hours before he was scheduled to take the stage, thousands of Trump supporters wearing “Never Surrender” T-shirts and red “Make America Great Again” hats took to the sand between the boardwalk and carnival rides. They flocked to greet the former Republican president.

Mr. Trump’s extraordinary legal problems, including three unrelated criminal cases, have emerged as a central issue in the campaign.
Wildwood is in New Jersey’s 2nd District, which Mr. Van Drew has represented for three terms, and covers all or part of six southern New Jersey counties. Trump was elected in 2016, supported Barack Obama, and then re-elected in 2020.
