Just days before Mother’s Day, a mother was attacked and killed by a pack of dogs and her three children outside a middle school in Georgia.
The dogs attacked a family on Thursday as they waited at a bus stop behind Brooks County Middle School in Quitman, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Courtney Williams, 35, was found dead in a nearby garden.
“When officers arrived, they encountered several aggressive dogs on the property,” the GBI said.
The children were taken to the hospital with injuries, and the son suffered several lacerations when he attacked the dog while trying to save his sister’s life, the family said.
“In doing so, Kayden got Sissy out of harm’s way and saved her, but he also took the dog on himself,” says Williams’ sister-in-law, Crystal Cox. he said on Facebook.
She shared some graphic images showing the boy had several deep wounds on his arms, legs and head.
Williams’ other son ran into the school as the dogs attacked the family, called a man whom Cox called “an angel,” who fought off the dogs and the boy and rushed him to the hospital.
Kayden suffered “pretty serious injuries,” Cox said, but all three are now recovering at home.
It’s unclear what breed the bloodthirsty hound was, but neighbors say I told Walb They had been complaining for some time about the need for animal control in the area.
“People are abandoning dogs in the county and no one can get help because we don’t have animal control in the county. We’re praying for this woman’s family. It’s so sad,” one resident said. one person told the program.
Another lamented the timing of the tragedy, just three days before Mother’s Day.
“I feel sorry for the families and the children because they have to celebrate Mother’s Day without their mothers,” she said.
The GBI is conducting an autopsy to determine the official cause of William’s death.
