It’s only May, but gamblers are already looking forward to the first week of the NFL season.
The Kansas City Chiefs are listed as a three-point selection by DraftKings heading into their Week 1 home game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The NFL announced Monday that the Chiefs will open the season on “Thursday Night Football” against Baltimore, a rematch of the AFC Championship Game.
The Chiefs entered that game as a 3.5-point underdog, but won 17-10 thanks to timely turnovers and strong defense that slowed down MVP Lamar Jackson.
Baltimore’s money line to start this season is +130, but the Chiefs’ odds are -155 and the over/under is 47.5.
The Ravens will bring back much of the same team in 2024, but let Odell Beckham Jr. walk and trade him to the Miami Dolphins.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs appear likely to be without up-and-coming wide receiver Lachie Rice.
Since his Super Bowl win, Rice has found himself in quite a bit of trouble. The league expects him to be suspended for various off-field violations.
Still, the odds point to the Chiefs’ strength in the NFL as back-to-back defending champions.

Last season, the Chiefs also hosted the first game of the season, hosting the Detroit Lions in what is best known as the “Kadarius Tony Game.”
Toney dropped multiple passes, including one that resulted in Detroit’s pick-six and the game-clinching touchdown.

The Chiefs lost that game 21-20 to the Lions, a result that gave the world an early indication that they were not the Lions of old.
Detroit was among the final four teams remaining in the playoffs, but was beaten by the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game and wasted a chance to play the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
