Cavaliers star out for Game 4 vs. Celtics

The Cavaliers will have to look for a tie in the second round of the NBA playoff series with the Celtics without their best player.

Donovan Mitchell will miss Monday’s crucial Game 4 in Cleveland with a calf injury, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Mitchell suffered a torn left calf muscle in the fourth quarter of the Cavaliers’ Game 3 loss on Saturday, leaving his team trailing 2-1.

The 27-year-old guard, who was named an All-Star for the fifth consecutive season, is averaging 29.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game in the playoffs.

He scored 50 points for the third time in his career in a Game 6 loss to the Magic in the first round of the playoffs, followed by 39 points in a Game 7 win.

Mitchell scored 33 points on 12-of-22 shooting, including 7-of-12 from 3-point range, in the Cavs’ Game 3 loss.

The series returns to Boston for Game 5 on Wednesday.
