Courage is contagious, and Harrison Butker has it in spades.
The Kansas City Chiefs kicker gave the commencement address at Benedict College over the weekend, and he left everything on the table during his speech.
“Bad policies and poor leadership are negatively impacting major life issues such as abortion, in vitro fertilization, surrogacy, euthanasia, and growing support for corrupt cultural values and media. All of this stems from widespread anarchy,” Butker told the university students.
“Our country is led by a man so delusional that he publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, yet at the same time makes the sign of the cross at pro-abortion rallies. You’ve been very vocal about your support for it, so to many people it would seem that you’re both a Catholic and a pro-choice person.”
“He is not alone. From those leading the coronavirus lockdowns to those pushing dangerous gender ideologies on America’s youth, they all have one thing in common: They are Catholics. This is an important reminder that just being Catholic doesn’t help.
“It’s safe to say that over the last few years I’ve gained a reputation for being outspoken about my opinions. I never imagined myself or ever wanted to have this kind of platform. I didn’t, but God gave it to me and I have no choice but to accept it and preach the harder truths about accepting your lane and staying in it,” he concluded. . .
