Caitlin Clark causes 241% increase in WNBA ticket prices

Caitlin Clark made a huge impact on WNBA ticket sales and viewership after playing just one official game in the league.

Clark, the Indiana Fever’s No. 1 draft pick, scored 20 points in his professional debut. 92-71 loss To the Connecticut Sun. But it’s not necessarily the score sheet that the league is concerned about.

Clark’s appearance at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., drew a sold-out crowd of 8,910 for the home team.

According to a report by sports casting, Clark’s presence caused the price of the Sun’s game to increase by a shocking 469% compared to the lowest ticket price for the upcoming game against Connecticut. This is a jump from his so-called “get-in” price of $13 to his $74.

With five away games in May 2024, Clarke is jacking up ticket prices everywhere he goes.

If you went to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for a New York Liberty game, ticket prices jumped 300%, from $21 to $84.

In Seattle, Washington, the Clark effect increases prices from $26 to $70 (169%), but a trip to Los Angeles only increases by $7 (15%), from $45 to $52.

However, if Indiana visits the Las Vegas Aces on May 25, 2024, there will be a 2,200% difference in ticket prices for the Aces’ next home game. That means ticket prices are $92 when Clark is home, and then (along with Jaws) they drop to just $4.

Overall, the “get-in” price for a game featuring Clark that month averages $74.40, while the next home game averages $21.80. This is a league-wide increase of 241.28%.

“But a hyper-woke WNBA could blow this up. Her peers are jealous, and her teammates may be reluctant to put their egos aside and let Kaitlyn be Kaitlyn.” do not have.”

That same sellout loss to the Connecticut Sun not only packed the arena and drove ticket prices to new highs, it also drew huge viewership for a WNBA game.

The game drew an average of 2.13 million viewers on ESPN2 and coincided with the NBA playoffs.

According to reports out kick, which was the most-watched WNBA game in almost exactly 23 years. The Memorial Day game between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Houston Comets on May 28, 2001 was watched by an average of 2.45 million viewers on NBC.

Although the game was watched by 2 million more people than the men’s game, it actually surpassed any NHL playoff hockey game on ESPN’s main channel.

Blaze TV’s Jason Whitlock said while Clark is making headlines, it’s not surprising that the WNBA would shoot itself in the foot.

“Caitlyn is the most attractive athlete in sports right now, which is never the case for American female athletes, but the hyper-woke WNBA could blow that away,” Whitlock said. “Her peers are jealous and her teammates may be reluctant to put their egos aside and let Kaitlyn be Kaitlyn. Indiana coaches are in a difficult situation. . She’s probably at a loss. Let’s see.”

In this regard, fellow WNBA player A’ja Wilson recently claimed in an interview that Clark’s popularity is largely due to her race. Wilson complained that black female athletes lack support and tend to be “swept under the rug.”

After the interview was conducted, but before it was made public, Wilson signed sponsorship deals with both Nike and Gatorade.
