A 5-year-old Colorado girl died days after being strangled by a disc swing in a freak accident, according to reports.
Last week, little Aurora Masters was playing in her backyard in Fort Collins when she somehow got tangled up in a jungle gym attachment.
“She pulled a little plastic slide over to where the swings were,” says her great-aunt Brenda Kennedy. told KDVR-TV.
“Then somehow she got caught in the swing and the swing strangled her.”
Aurora was taken to the hospital in critical condition and spent several days in the PICU before her family made the difficult decision to discontinue emergency treatment.
“Aurora’s brain was swollen because she didn’t have oxygen. Today’s MRI confirmed that the swelling was severe enough that it wouldn’t go away, so we moved Aurora into end-of-life care and organ donation.” We made the difficult decision to let them go,” Kennedy wrote in an online fundraiser.
She was placed on life support for two days to preserve her organs, which were then donated to other children in need.
