A 3-year-old girl in South Carolina was crushed to death after falling into a birdbath, authorities said.
The toddler, Jasmine Dennis Mikel, suffered “blunt force trauma” to her abdomen in the accident at a Warrenville home last Saturday night. WRDW report.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said first responders were called to the scene after receiving reports that the girl had been “crushed” in the bathtub.
They found the girl’s family with their child in the middle of the road and immediately began squeezing them.
Jasmine was rushed to Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, where she was pronounced dead the next day.
The coroner, sheriff’s office and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are investigating her death, which authorities are calling a “tragic accident.”
No one has been charged.
The girl’s obituary said she “brought joy to those she met.”
“Even though she was only here for a short time, her impact on others will never be forgotten,” the obituary said.
“She loved Honey Grahams, candy, swimming, and trips to the park.”
