Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell tested positive for the coronavirus on Thursday and is now working from home, a Fed spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

The announcement comes after Powell, 71, visited Europe this week and appeared on stage at an event with Dutch Central Bank Governor Claes Nott in Amsterdam on Tuesday.
Powell last tested positive for the coronavirus in January 2023. There was little reaction in financial markets after the Fed’s announcement regarding Powell’s latest coronavirus infection. The next scheduled Fed policy meeting will not be held until June 11-12.
Powell was scheduled to deliver the commencement address in person at Georgetown Law School on Sunday, but he will now deliver the commencement address via pre-recorded video, he said in a statement.
