Xander Schauffele prevailed at Valhalla Golf Club on Sunday, birdieing the 18th hole to finish at 21 under and win the PGA Championship.
Schauffele’s four-round total of 263 strokes is the lowest point total in major championship history.
Schauffele entered the final hole tied at 20 under with Bryson DeChambeau, who shot a 64. After going up and down to save par on the 17th hole, Schauffele entered the 18th tee confident that a birdie would clinch the Wanamaker Trophy.
Schauffele will forever be able to say he is a major champion because he did just that.
This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
