Rapper Cam’ron stunned CNN anchor Abby Phillippe during a harrowing interview discussing the video of Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting Cassie Ventura.
In an interview that has since gone viral, Cam’ron, whose real name is Cameron Giles, was asked if he recognized that side of Combs seen in the disturbing footage.
“Everything in the video is terrible. I’m against it,” the rapper, 48, says. told on NewsNight, he made it clear that he did not consider Combs a friend. “So when I saw the video, I was a little upset because I know him.”
However, the interview seemed to take a turn for the worse when Philip repeated the question.
“I don’t know that guy. What do you mean I noticed him? I saw him,” he said. “What do you mean my experience? I saw him and I thought, gross, I didn’t zoom in to see if it was really him, but he acknowledged that it was him, so yeah, it was him.”
Video released by the outlet shows Combs throwing his then-girlfriend Ventura to the ground at the hotel, then kicking her, dragging her into a hallway and throwing objects at her. .
Mr. Phillippe then asked Cam’ron what he thought about Combs’ apology video released on Sunday, in which he said he took “full responsibility” for his actions, before asking Cam’ron for the video shoot. He talked about how he was at “rock bottom” at times.
Combs, who has since gone to therapy to become a better person, said she was and still is “disgusted” with herself at the time of the beating.
Cam’ron responded: “The apology is not for me. It’s for Kathy.” “He won’t do anything for me. It doesn’t matter how I feel about it. I need to ask Kathy if she accepts my apology. I said what I said.”
The CNN anchor, who looked visibly embarrassed, then played footage of Cam’ron talking to fellow rapper Mace on his podcast.
In the video, Cam’ron asks Mase why he took him to The Notorious BIG instead of Diddy’s Bad Boy Records after securing a record deal.
“I saw you as a good friend and I wanted to put you together with someone I know,” Mase says in the clip. “I knew right away that Biggie was going to do the right thing by your side.”
When asked about Combs’ actions in the music industry, Cam’ron is clearly irritated by the question.
The rapper took a sip of PinkHorsePower, a supplement he owns that helps improve sex drive, and then said, “Sorry, I’m going to go get my cheeks after I drink this horsepower drink.”
“I don’t know Puff as well as Mace knows Puff,” he said, referring to Combs by his nickname.
“I appreciate what Mase said, and of course it’s my brother, so if he felt that way, he must have felt that way. We don’t actually know how Puff moves. Well, Mase probably knows more than me.”
Cam’ron then promoted his podcast, but a visibly frustrated Phillip asked about the music industry and whether Combs was protected by people in high places.
“Who’s the talent agent at this joint? You think I’m just going to sit back and watch Diddy’s actions? I didn’t know this was Diddy’s joint that you all invited me to. Who am I? “You booked this joint?” he said.
The rapper then posted on Instagram, “Why are you being invited to CNN?”
Since Ventura’s rape, sexual misconduct and other disturbing accusations, Combs has been hit with five more lawsuits.
