Israel said Wednesday it would not offer condolences over the death of Iranian President Abraham Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash on Sunday and whose funeral was held in Tehran on Wednesday.
Israeli government spokesperson David Mensier told reporters amid reports that Hamas terrorist leader Ismail Haniyeh attended the funeral along with other terrorist leaders, including senior Hezbollah officials.
The U.S. State Department on Monday offered its condolences to Iran over the deaths of Raisi and other officials, but Secretary of State Antony Blinken defended it in the Senate on Tuesday as “business as usual.”
Asked by Breitbart News if Israel was also expressing condolences to Iran over Raisi’s death, Mensah said, “No, we are not expressing condolences.”
He added that Raisi heads an oppressive and murderous regime and that this is the only case in which “Iran, a UN member state, is trying to destroy another UN member state, Israel.”
Mensah added that Israel was shocked by Blinken’s condolences.
“Not a single tear has been shed in Israel for the death of this tyrant.” [Raisi] … Expressing such false regret for what happened to Iran’s leaders frankly makes us angry. ”
